Usborne Summer Reading Club
Kids read books of their own choosing throughout the summer!
Kids earn books, prizes, and awards for their reading!
Kids discover the fun of reading outside of school and the value of helping other children in our community!
Neighbors, friends, and families unite to encourage reading and support children in need!
The Summer Reading Club is a pledge-based reading incentive program for kids of all ages! The goal is to have children develop a regular reading habit outside of school. The kids will read throughout the summer (or be read to) and earn books as their reward. As a bonus, Usborne Books & More will provide an additional 25% in books to be donated to needy children in our community. WOW! What a way to spend time this summer – enjoying reading and doing something amazing for others!
Read and collect pledges! (May 30-July 15)
Start reading! Everything you need for the Summer Reading Club will arrive in the mail this summer! Tell grandparents, friends, and neighbors about the Summer Reading Club challenge, and ask them to pledge a single dollar amount to reward your reading. All students are asked to read (or be read to) for a minimum of 400 minutes over approximately six weeks.
Turn in pledges and select your books! (July 17-July 22)
Participating children choose reward books at the end of the program equal to the pledge money they collect. Usborne Books & More will match this amount at 25% for needy children in our community! For example, a child that collects $40 in pledges selects $40 in books for themselves AND $10 in books to be donated to a child! The books will be ordered and arrive in time for our Reading Celebration!
Celebrate reading! (Sunday August 14th)
Participating children and their families are invited to a Reading Celebration at the Fairgrounds Park, Loveland. They will enjoy ice cream and receive their books, recognition, and prizes. Attending the celebration is NOT required for participation in the program.
Anyone who reads or is read to can participate! Please SHARE this information - we would like to have as many
children involved in reading this summer as possible!
